Facebook’s Photo Uploader Get’s Redesigned
With Facebook redesigning many things lately, they’ve re-done their photo uploader as well. This prototype was seen last November, and will be rolled out to all users soon.
With millions of photos uploaded daily, this redesign will sure get noticed.

Unlike the previous version of the Facebook photo uploader, this new one requires you to install a browser plug-in. A slight inconvenience to most people, although not entirely obtrusive. This browser plug-in gives you the ability to exit out of Facebook entirely and still have photos be uploaded. You used to have to keep that upload page open, but not anymore.
Facebook also stated that the new uploader supports a few extra photo formats, though they did not specify which ones. The company has, for some time now, had unofficial support for a handful of alternate formats, including RAW images. However, on its official spec sheet the company says only .jpg, .gif, .bmp, and .png files will work. We can expect to see more soon.
Currently, Facebook gets 2.5 billion photo uploads a month. With photos being one of Facebook’s critical features, easier ways to implement uploading them is always welcome.
If you can’t wait for Facebook to activate the uploader on your account, you can do it yourself. Just head over toFacebook’s prototype page, and turn it on.
